From The Shadows is a story about betrayal, danger, secrets and survival.

KC Woods has managed to put her past as an agent involved in dangerous, deadly missions behind her. For fifteen years she's lead a quiet, normal life raising her kids. But then Steven Janko, her ex-partner, ex-lover, kidnaps her children and her life is thrown into a tailspin.

Now she has to face the shadows from her past and a man she's never stopped loving. To see her kids again, she agrees to become Janko?s partner once more. The mission?to save her life and those of her children.

Steven has uncovered a plot to kill KC and her kids. He intends to keep them safe?even at the cost of breaking his heart. Years ago he'd blamed KC for a failed mission. He?d lost her trust and her love.

That betrayal is still fresh in KC mind and she stays on guard. Her only goal?to see her kids safe. But as they strive to find the person trying to kill her, old emotions and desires surface. Trust is not easily given, though, especially when secrets are revealed that are as dangerous as the man stalking her.

From a small town in Oklahoma, to the Louisiana bayou, to Austin, Texas to historic New Orleans, Margaret Reid created a story that kept me turning the pages. This is a well-written character driven book that sustains the plot to the last page. I highly recommend it.
